You can’t miss the ruins of Whitby Abbey that dominates the cliff edge keeping a watchful eye on the town. It sure has a tale to tell with its rich history that spans centuries. Climb the 199 steps to explore what's left of the monastery and enjoy the amazing views of the coast. You’ll need a little breather before the walk back down.
Do the Whitby Sculpture Trail
Relatively new to Whitby is Emma Stothard’s sculpture trail. It is the perfect way to explore the town whilst learning about its history and the people who had a huge part to play. Steel wired characters come to life as you explore different areas of Whitby. Walk the cobbled streets searching for the nine life-sized structures. We’re thrilled to have collaborated with Emma to create the stunning Silver Darlings collection.
Head to the Beach
…..and maybe hunt for some Whitby Jet if you’re lucky. It’s hard to find yet those with a keen eye after a stormy night may just find a fragment or two. Alternatively, a relaxing day at the beach in the summer is just as nice. As is a stroll along the coast if it’s not so sunny.

Your trip to Whitby wouldn’t be complete without tucking into an award winning fish and chips. It’s got to be done when visiting the seaside and trust us, you won’t be disappointed! Book a table indoors or eat outside admiring the views if the weather allows.
